Today, Petersham Nurseries opens its shop and deli on King Street in Covent Garden, in a huge and beautiful space filled with the luscious plants and objects which you can also find at their original Richmond-upon-Thames location. This is just the beginning of plans for the London location, as a bar, restaurant and courtyard are still to open.
Last night, VIP guests attended an opening party with cocktails, canapes, music and live performance. The entertainment was curated by artistic director of Petersham Road, Anna Raffaella Boglione. Bespoke costumes were made by Charli Parker, and a team of hair and makeup artists, led by Samantha Norman, used natural moss, gold leaf and body paint to adorn all event and shop staff, as well as creating four magical characters on physical performers.
Two male dancers from Rambert performed contemporary dance in the window, whilst my sister and I were statuesque mossy ladies on stilts, with wooden staffs.

"thechosenclub The coolest party ever 💕 Last night I ended up at the opening for the new Petersham Nurseries in Covent Garden. It was such a magical night and the shop is gorgeous 👌🏻✨ my new fave spot there!"
"eshomesproperty At the fabulous opening of @petershamnurseries in Covent Garden last night. In a former townhouse in King's Street, there's now a shop, deli and wine cellar - and by the end of the year there will be two restaurants set around a courtyard garden as well. We're told the restaurant décor will feature pink chandeliers, red leather seats, a bronze bar and open kitchen. We can't wait!"
"mary_fellowes No @petershamnurseries event would be complete without a bit of theatrical magic. This otherworldly nymph was actually 10feet tall on stilts."
Towards the end of the evening, we broke character and danced with the guests.
